Frequently Asked Questions

How many sessions will I need?

How many sessions you or your child will need depends on the individual’s needs and the intentions of therapy.

A general principle of treatment planning is that acute concerns require fewer sessions than chronic concerns, so the longer the issue has been present, the longer it will take to subside after its root has been identified and addressed.

Most patients notice a distinct change after the first session, and subsequent sessions allow for that change to deepen and become more permanent.

The average number of sessions is about 6 for infants and children, and about 12 for adults.

The frequency and duration of a treatment plan often also depends on many practical factors such as financial resources and third party payment issues, travel distance, time available, and so on.

If you are coming from far away, please contact us in advance to make appropriate arrangements for a shorter and more intensive treatment plan.

Otherwise, if you are more local and booking your first appointment, please book only the initial consultation; we will co-create a treatment plan based on discussion and assessment in the first appointment.
